Book Concept
The Long and Winding Road
The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
Ive seen that road before
It always leads me her
Lead me to you door
The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here
Let me know the way
Many times Ive been alone
And many times Ive cried
Any way youll never know
The many ways Ive tried
But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Dont leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door
But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Dont leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door
This poem touches on the challenges of life and looking back on it all. There is a very nostalgic feel to this poem and I want to capture that feeling in my book by making the book an old beat up journal. The journal may be old but it holds many memories in its pages and I will represent this in various ways throughout the book.

Triptych Project Idea
My idea is to divide myself into the three parts of the psychic apparatus according to Freud. These parts are the ego, super-ego, and the id. I will represent my ego as my normal self wearing what I wear on a normal basis since the ego is the part of our mind that allows us to interact with the world around us. For the super-ego I plan on showing myself in a dress shirt and a tie since this is the part of the mind that leads our ego to chose what we have been conditioned to believe. It is the part of the mind that disciplines the other parts. The id represents instincts and desires, this part of the mind goes back to animalistic desires such as eating and procreating. Freud also said this part of the mind is obsessed with life and death and is the part of our minds that tells us to do things we would never want to. For this part I plan on using a picture of myself that makes me look like a deviant.

Artist Reaction
As a photographer and someone who uses photoshop often I am quite fascinated by the works of these artists. I must admit that I have not been exposed to too much digital art, especially images that have been not only manipulated beautifully but set up in such a great way. I am curious how Jeff Wall and Gregory Crewdson achieved the images that they did through photoshop and would love to see the picture that the image originated from so I can see how dramatic of a change it was.
